| Popis | The lexeme bolos is widely recognized, yet its origin continues to be debated. The recent emergence in slang of a synonymous lexeme, flocko, borrowed from Baoulé, reopens the question of African languages. Bolos may have originated from Bambara, where bólokobali is "an uncircumcised man" as well as an insult. Unraveling the thread of this hypothesis and examining the neologisms morray and go, we discuss the role of etymology and channels through which new words are spread in neographic practice. |
