| Popis | An assumption exists that the Helmholtz resonator could be used as a suitable model for estimating the volume of hidden cave spaces. This hypothesis was tested in the simple-shaped two-entranced Císařská Cave (Moravian Karst, Czech Republic). Data (airflow and exterior/cave temperature) were monitored at the lower entrance of the cave. The observed airflows oscillated at frequencies in the range from 1.7 to 16.1 mHz based on the temperature differences ?T = Texterior – Tcave from -9 to -1 °C. Furthemore, the oscillations varied with time. Both the multiple „fundamental“ frequencies and the time-variability question the possibility that the oscillations (1) are a result of cave resonance and that (2) they can be described using Helmholtz resonator. |
