DAAD grants for international guest PhD students

The International Office of the University of Hildesheim offers in 2022 two DAAD grants for international Phd students from a foreign university who wish to study for three months at the University of Hildesheim. The grantees will have the status of guest PhD students at the University of Hildesheim.

The grants are paid for three months with a monthly sum of 900 € (2,700 Euro in total).

There are two options for the period of stay:
1. Stay in the summer semester 2022 (3 months between April and September 2022) or 2. Stay in the winter semester 2022/23 (October, November, December 2022)
Please note that students who are already enrolled at the University of Hildesheim either as PhD or double degree seeking students can’t apply for these grants.

Applications from PhD students from partner universities are given preference, but PhD students from other universities can apply, too.

Deadline for applications: 15.02.2022

Documents to be handed in :
1. Letter of Recommendation from a professor of the University of Hildesheim who will be the guest PhD’s supervisor in Hildesheim during the stay
2. PhD Exposé of the applicant
3. Curriculum Vitae (in table form) of the applicant
4. Letter of Recommendation from a supervisor (home university) of the applicant
5. English or German language certificate

The complete set of documents in paper form (not via e-mail!) must be handed in until 15.02.2020 to the following address:

Ulrike Bädecker-Zimmermann
Universität Hildesheim
International Office
Universitätsplatz 1
D-31141 Hildesheim
Germany

The decision concerning the choice of the two grantees will be effected as soon as possible after the deadline.

Our international guest PhD students are obliged to enroll at the University of Hildesheim, according to their period of stay. The grantees will pay the reduced semester fee of appr. 360,- €. In return, our guest PhD students receive the UniCard with the semester ticket and enjoy the benefits of reduced prices in the refectory hall, free public transport in Hildesheim and Lower Saxony, etc.

Our guest PhD’s need a valid health insurance for the enrollment. Guest PhD students who are younger than 30 years, need a German statutory health insurance. European guest PhD’s who dispose of a European Health Insurance Card, can use this insurance also in Germany.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

With best regards

Ulrike Bädecker-Zimmermann
