About the film:

School headmaster Kevin McArevey seeks to change the fortunes of an inner-city Irish community plagued by decline, sectarian aggression, poverty and drugs.
An observational documentary is set in the post-conflict Ardoyne area of Belfast, where a marginalised working class community has been plagued by poverty, drugs and guns for generations. This film charts the dream of school principal Kevin McArevey and his dedicated, visionary team, showing how critical thinking and pastoral care can empower and encourage children to see beyond the boundaries and limitations of their own community. We see how philosophy encourages young boys to question the mythology of war and violence and sometimes to challenge what their parents, peers, and socioeconomic group would dictate.
