Why Masaryk University, why Brno or why Czech!!
Almost everyone from the very first day in Czech ambassy, during the process of getting visa, asked me this question, even Czech people! Honestly, I could say it is cheaper to live here as a student, especially when you are not rich like me! Second, it is not as cold as some other countries like Canada, apparently, I like to see the sun more! Not sure about you. If your mother tongue is not English, here is your place! Why?! because you don’t need to take some crazy language certification to apply like Ielts! What are you waiting for? Just open the website and you’ll probably find it so easy to pursue. The staff answer the emails quickly. I really like that, especially in the process of applying when we can’t stand waiting much! There are absolutely much more but maybe later!
Somewhere to settle in!
When I applied it was the beginning of corona virus outbreak. Like other universities, there are different dormitories which I could choose, but I preferred to rent a cozy apartment. You could find different websites or Facebook groups where you can find your own lovely shelter! Like anything else it has its own pros and cons, but if you prefer to make the best friends from all over the world, if you are sociable, and at the same time you like intentional challenges, I bet dormitory will be your cup of tea!
Don’t miss the events
September and starting the new semester, we all know, but it is worth coming 2 months earlier to Brno, so you won’t miss various events, such as Festival Marathon Hudby Brno, Brazil Fest and many more. That’s not all, the summertime is the best to browse the town, go for sightseeing, finding cheaper shops, and totally become part of the community a bit. Maybe you could be the new guide for newcomers in September!
Building up your new community
Even if you are not that kind of extrovert like me, you should make new friends in new place. Every where you could find people with the same originality with the same mother tongue but making friends among local is really something else. They will be your best guide for knowing about the history of the country, if you are into it, some cultural differences you should know, cheaper shops, and even learning a bit of their language to survive!
Coming out of my comfort zone
Obviously, we can’t get quite mature when we are surrounded by our own community and not putting a step out. This is the first thing I thought when I decided to apply.
