| Description | Life is a constant change of individual moments. Living conditions are evolving and people as living beings have to adapt to them. One of the many areas that are subject to change in connection with the rapid expansion of society is the production sphere associated with the need to employ a quality workforce. However, it is necessary to prepare this workforce for the needs of the production sphere. Increase of the necessary knowledge, technological development, information requirements - there are requirements for the increasing level of vocational education connected with the rapid development of those areas. At least that is the logical connection. But can this tendency be captured and documented by hard data? To answer this question, the authors of the article use Eurostat database and the selected indicators, about the past development of wider area than the vocational education and try to outline the potential direction of analyzed areas in the future. The article is primarily based on publicly available data, especially data on education, contained in the Eurostat database with a focus on the Czech Republic. Nationally conceived data are compared with other selected EU countries, namely Austria, Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. The analyzed data focus on the numbers of pupils and teachers, especially with regard to their age structure are supplemented by data about the financing the education. With regard to demographic development, the authors try to outline the possible development of the analyzed areas in the horizon of at least the next ten years. Thus, through the analysis of available hard data, the article tries to approach the current situation in education, with a focus on vocational education. The main question, that the authors are trying to get answers to, is how the number of pupils and teachers has changed in the last few years, and what development can be expected on the basis of available data in the near future. A partial thesis is the comparison with selected countries, where Slovakia represents in all respects the closest comparison base, Austria and Germany neighboring countries of the western type and Poland and Hungary a suitable addition in the V4 area. The aging of the population is becoming a generally accepted fact. As it seems from the data, this problem also affects teachers, especially teachers of vocational subjects, for whom the share of teachers in retirement or pre-retirement age is quite high. If the problem is only the Czech Republic, and how big a problem it can be in the near future, the data will show us. |
