| Description | The presented text is a review study of researches dealing with misconceptions in genetics. Genetics is a new and developing field of science. On the other hand, it is a field full of abstract concepts that are difficult to understand. Misconceptions are such III/2017 150 explanations of phenomena and processes that are different from the current scientific knowledge. The examined studies are compared from the perspective of aims, research questions, research tools and methods. The results show that researches quite often focus on understanding of the basic genetic concepts. The aims of the researches are not concrete, and the data analyses are not described. The results of the researches show inconsistent understanding of genetics concepts and overestimating of possibilities offered by genetics. The influence of local culture is an important factor too. |
