Academic Senate meeting on November 4, 2025

The merger was approved at a Senate meeting on November 4, 2025, with 17 of the 23 senators present voting in favor of the proposal. The newly created department will be called the Department of Other Foreign Languages.

The merger of the departments will support the quality of teaching and research development and strengthen the long-term economic and personnel sustainability of language study programs.

The introduction of Spanish language teaching, which is increasingly in demand among primary and secondary schools, is also in preparation.

The merger of the departments will not directly affect students, as existing study programs will continue unchanged and there will be no changes in the staffing of the academic staff of the departments concerned.
