ORCID as a mandatory identifier for better record keeping, automation, and increased visibility of scientific work.
Since October, a new requirement has been in effect at the university: all publishing employees and doctoral students must have an ORCID identifier set up and linked to the MU Information System. Regardless of this requirement, users still have control over what content will be included in their ORCID profile and to what extent it will be published there.
ORCID is an international system that uniquely identifies researchers and links their publications across databases. If you don't have one yet, creating an ORCID ID will open the door to greater visibility for your research—your work will be easier to find and link, regardless of changes in your last name or affiliation.
And if you already have an ORCID? Then linking it to IS MU will save you time. RIV publications will be automatically transferred to your profile, so you won't have to fill them in manually anymore. At the same time, your affiliations and job positions (or doctoral studies) will be unified, which will make it easier to keep track of your publications.
What exactly do you need to do? Create an ORCID (if you don't have one), register it in the "Personal Identifiers" application in IS MU, grant the university permission to manage your profile, and update it at least once a year. Then include your ORCID wherever you publish – with publishers, in grant applications, and in other academic activities.
Please pay attention to the Guide to Unique personal identifier. which walks you through creating and linking this identifier to the IS. If you have any problems or questions, please contact the faculty ORCID methodologist Petra Hromádková.
The documents are currently only available in Czech language, we will inform you when the English version is available.
