Professional induction is considered to be the crucial phase of teacher professional development as it has long-term implications for job
satisfaction and career length of teachers. The need for exploration and in-depth analyses of the professional initiation processes in the
contemporary Czech setting is obvious. The proposed project adopts a socio-pedagogic perspective and focuses on the processes of novice
teachers´ socialisation and its objective determinants. The findings should contribute to the current state-of-the-art in the theory of the
teaching profession, namely shed more light on the processes and conditions of teacher professional development. They may help reduce the
attrition rate of novice teachers, and they will also be informative for the first phase of teacher professional development, professional
adaptation, which is incorporated in the proposal of the career system for teachers in the Czech Republic. The outcomes include a monograph
or a monothematic issue of a scientific journal, other articles in scientific journals, and presentations at conferences.
