Intonation in Focus is a one-semester course aimed at students of English of the combined bachelor study program. The aim of this course is to provide students (at the C1 level) with a means for developing and improving particularly their spoken English.
The content of the course is pivoted partly on the textbook English Pronunciation in Use (Advanced), specifically on the passages dealing with intonation, and partly on stylized as well as authentic texts/audio recordings. These will be selected with care in order to meet the requirements of appropriate study material for practising various intonation patterns and tones. The syllabus will also include materials created by the participants of the course, i.e. transcripts of recordings and the students’ own audio recordings.
