Description The Gaussian distribution is used to describe distribution of assessment of pupils although its application for such a purpose is inappropriate and may lead to incorrect evaluation. The goal of this work was to verify whether results of assessment of study (i.e. marks or grades) in teaching practice correspond with the Gaussian distribution, as the professional literature and various methodological guidelines suggest. The research was carried out on data from the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University (PdF MU) in Brno (Czech Republic) and from the Slovak University of Agriculture (SPU) in Nitra (Slovak Republic). The conclusion of the data analysis is that assessment of pupils does not conform to the Gaussian distribution (94% at PdF MU and 100% at SPU).
