Description The article summarises partial results of the research project School and health for the 21st century. The subproject is oriented on Health Education in primary school. It deals with the projected and realised curricula of health education and the results are compared with foreign countries. The research methods were the content analysis of the documents and professional texts, the standardised controlled interview, questionnaires and the modelling of the health education curricula. In the research, educational documents containing the projected curricula of health education were analysed. The research samples were representative samples of the Czech Republic citizens and a random selection of the basic school headmasters. The research results provide a base for a draft of a model of health education at basic school. The aim of the model is to help to optimise the health education realisation. The health education model contains a model organisation of health education curriculum at the primary and lower secondary school level. The model also deals with the curriculum of health education realised as an individual subject or integrated into other educational subjects.
