Description The third chapter deals with the developmental approach to observations in the context of action research. Special focus is placed on differentiating levels of quality of teaching/learning situations and suggesting ways of improvement - alterations, in short. The ability to recognize the quality of a teaching/learning situation, suggest ways of improvement and give reasons for these suggestions belongs to the professionalism of the teacher and, along with other factors, determines the quality of his/her teaching. Towards the end of the chapter we briefly describe the method of developmental observations.
