Description The article presents analysis the content scope and operational functions of the terms "fact" and "phenomenon" in theories of subject didactics. The aim is to clarify the use of these terms above all with a view to their operationalisation for empirical research on educational practice. The analysis of the relationship between the concepts of "phenomenon" and "fact" enables subject didactics to offer theoretical explanations of the reality of teaching and learning based on the pupils experience, i.e. on his pre-understanding of the teaching material. The autors introduce the term "distance of the structure of expression" to suggest that the greater this distance the harder is to make the didactic connection between pupils experience and the analogical performace of the expert.
