Description The paper elaborates the structure of the basic dynamic semantic scales within the Brno theory of functional sentence perspective. It summarizes previous research into dynamic semantic scales, especially Firbas’s (1992) research into the presentation scale and the quality scale, and Chamonikolasová’s modification of the presentation scale ('Dynamic semantic scales in the theory of functional sentence perspective'; Chamonikolasová 2005). The authors pay attention to elements that function as a special type of specification of the verb which presents a phenomenon on the scene.
