| Description | The present book provides an overview of the reception of Group 47 authors in communist Czechoslovakia (1948–1989). Using selected examples, it analyses the contemporary practice of steering the reading of ideologically problematic works through paratexts—a method widely used in the socialist Eastern Bloc to control literary content. The examination of the negotiation processes between literary actors and censors further illustrates the diverse functions of paratexts and the strategies employed to circumvent censorship within the totalitarian literary system. |
