Description The study is a reflection on the creation and current expansion of the sculpture collection of Masaryk University in Brno. If we consider what the relationship between publicly exhibited sculptures and the public and school community can be, we can point to three artistic tasks of accessible objects, which are characterized by the harmony of the created works with the ideas of their collectors about their location and with the specific conditions of the places for their display. As a path through the sculpture garden on the Brno campus, monumental sculptures in the distance function in particular; as a place inside individual faculties, then works that come close to the viewer's visual touch. However, the author picks up Hal Foster's idea of the "Art/Architecture complex", the representation of which he sees primarily in the object by Aleš Veselý. His Touches and Distances can be understood as a certain symbolic pivot of the university sculpture collection and as a pivot of reflections on the further development of the university collection.
