Description The aim of our research was to find out how and how often people in Czechia work outside working hours using digital technologies, how they recharge their batteries, and how these processes relate to other work circumstances. In this report, we present the results of research conducted on a representative sample of 2,000 Czech workers. Thanks to this number of respondents, we provide one of the first comprehensive and generalizable views of how people in Czechia use digital technologies to work outside of working hours and how they manage to regenerate during their free time . We focused on the extent to which people feel overworked and whether/how often they do their work outside of their working hours. We were also interested in how people in Czechia relax – to what extent they are able to "switch off" during their free time, not think about work, and truly relax. According to research (Steed et al., 2021; Kühner et al., 2023), we know that working outside of working hours and regeneration are related to a number of factors. Therefore, we looked at, for example, how much importance people attach to work, whether their employers or managers expect them to work during their free time, whether workers themselves prefer to separate work and free time, or, conversely, to connect them. We also examined how much people believe in their own ability to effectively regenerate during their free time. In the first part of the report, we provide an overview of how Czech workers fare in individual areas. In the second part, we focus on the relationship between work outside working hours, regeneration, and other variables.
