Description While the crucial role of psychological detachment in the process of recovery from work and protecting people from burnout is widely acknowledged and understood theoretically within the Jobs Demands-Resources model, research examining the longitudinal development of individual's tendency to recover from work is lacking. Prior research has shown that recovery is in part determined by relatively stable characteristics, such as Recovery related self-efficacy, as well as potentially stable patterns of behaviour, e.g. leisure activity profiles. The presence of traits and habits explaining whether people experience psychological detachment from one's responsibilities would suggest the tendency to experience detachment may be in part stable over time and across contexts. The empirical evaluation of this conjecture is the objective of the present project proposal. We intend to measure the psychological detachment from work and psychological detachment from school using established self-reported questionnaires (modified for the school context). The studied population includes people who work while also attending school and people who transition from school to their first occupation. The preliminary cross-sectional results are presented. The conclusions from this research may have both important theoretical implications for our understanding of the process of recovery, as well as practical consequences for targeting interventions in order to achieve a stable improvement in recovery experiences.
