| Description | Due to their intermediality, cross-cultural graphic novels are a popular medium for teaching Italian as a foreign language in the 21st century. This article focuses on the production of Takoua Ben Mohamed, a journalist and graphic author born in Tunisia and raised in Rome. In this context, not only the multiperspectivity of the medium is discussed, but, through the analysis, cognitive and narrative processes are also considered. The autobiographical, transcultural and multilingual dimensions of memory and their translation into the medium emerge and the potential of the transcultural graphic novel for teaching Italian as a foreign language becomes clear. In addition, emphasis is placed on the promotion of global competences and the importance of multi-perspective work in Italian as a foreign language classes is reflected upon. Finally, creative and action-oriented activities are proposed with the aim of implementing autobiographical narration in Italian classes. |
