Description This article follows on ongoing discussions on the didactic potential of Linguistic Landscapes (LL) for foreign language learning and teaching. After a brief explanation of the concept of linguistic landscapes in the context of language teaching and an overview of the development of the use of LL in the classroom, the question of the extent to which LL are valuable for promoting motivation in foreign language learning is explored. Subsequently, an example of teaching German as a second foreign language is presented, which should encourage teachers to use LL even with young people with a lower level of German.
