Citation
Description The paper deals with a selection of books by contemporary Czech female writers of children's literature who have been awarded a major Czech literary prize after the year 2000. Using the method of literary-scientific interpretative analysis, it studies the themes of the books and focuses on the characters of the heroines of different ages. Furthermore, it explores their typical interests and problems, the developmental challenges they face, how they construct their interpersonal relationships, and how they look for and find their place in the world. The paper is a part of a wider dissertation research, its partial results have been applied in teaching students of pedagogical and art-pedagogical secondary schools and universities. Specifically, in teaching psychology and pedagogical practice in the field of pre-school pedagogy and extra-curricular pedagogy at the Secondary Pedagogical School in Brno and in teaching psychology and children's literature at the Theatre and Education Department at the Theatre Faculty of the Janacek Academy of Performing Arts (JAMU) in Brno.
