Description In the Czech Republic, the unified entrance exam, as a mandatory part of the admission procedure for secondary schools, is behind many school failures of pupils with insufficient knowledge of the Czech language. However, this exam is set by native speakers. Pupils with a different mother tongue can only pass the exam with difficulty, who, in addition, do not qualify for the highest possible entitlement support, e.g. due to Czech citizenship. Despite the effort to learn the language and other predispositions to follow-up studies, the turnover of foreigners during the transition from primary to secondary school is very high. How can we adapt the entrance exams so that they are more passable for this group of pupils? This post focuses on these and other questions.
