Description The word task can serve as a means of identifying pupils' mathematical abilities and to identify gift. However, there are various factors that influence the performance of students of different performance groups when solving word tasks. The goal of the research, which is described in the paper, was to find word problems of several types that distinguish gifted and non-gifted pupils of the 5th grade of elementary school. The paper describes one selected type of task and the results of the examined sample of pupils.
