Description Outdoor learning could provide wide range of benefits to education of students of lower secondary school education in environmental studies and across the areas of national curriculum. Yet, the outdoor education is not common form of education in Czech Republic especially due to difficult organization, financial costs, knowledge requirements and duration. Learning on the school grounds could provide suitable space for outdoor learning where these barriers could be overcome and where it could support local biodiversity. As model species suitable for learning on the school grounds was chosen sand lizard, Lacerta agilis Linnaeus, 1758, which as an endangered species could be supported by proper landscape management. We assume, that by building hibernaculum and lizard shelter we could provide enough support for local populations of lizards and in the same time provide suitable space for observing animals in their natural habitat. Practical part is about making hibernaculum and lizard shelter itself in area of Botanical Garden Kejbaly (PdF MU). For structures were used primarily material already available in garden or acquired for minimal costs. Apart from structures we made three educational boards with theme focusing on sand lizard and with expanding information on the web. All these improvements were made with regards to increasing quality of landscape suitable for reptiles and with regards to made area more educational valuable. Importance of improvements in garden from ecological and educational point of view will be evaluated by group of herpetologists, professional didactics, and teachers of biology in elementary schools. Aim of the work is to describe process of making education-enriched environment based on landscape structures made by us according to ecological rules. This educational enriched environment will serve for education in garden based on direct interaction between students, organisms, and environment, and will support chosen group of animals at the same time.
