Description The study deals with the prose work of the writer František Kožík (1909-1997), who became known to the general public primarily as the author of biographical novels in which he fictionalized the fates of exceptional personalities of Czech and world history. As a native of Uherský Brod, he was literally destined to deal with the personality of Jan Amos Komenský in his works. First he wrote a biographical book, The Painful and Heroic Life of Jan Amos Komenský (1958), which was soon published in English and French, then he published an essayistic work, Jan Amos Komenský, Man of Desire (1969), and years later a revised biography, Comenius (1981), which was published in German, English, French, Russian and Dutch. In his series of biographical books about Komenský, his novel The Angel of Peace (1984), commissioned by the publishing house Albatros as an intentional prose for young people, has a special place. The core of the study is an analysis of the novel, in which Kožík combines his personal fascination with the world of everyday courage with the factual knowledge he has gained about the "teacher of nations" during his long and concentrated study. The paper thus offers an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Comenius's life journey, as František Kožík elaborated it in his novel.
