Description The concept of mediation is completely redefined in the Companion Volume to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (2020). It is much broader and at the same time more precisely elaborated. But what does this mean for practice? The authors of this book look at language mediation from a wide variety of perspectives. Theoretical reflections on the redefinition of mediation are complemented by contributions on the operationalisation of the new competence scales and descriptors for foreign language teaching at school and university. Alongside reflections on the relationship to intercultural competence, tourism and the profession are those on knowledge transfer and interaction. Contributions on mediation strategies such as note-taking, on linguistic landscapes and on the importance of mediation in teacher training round off the volume. It offers background knowledge and practical suggestions for student teachers as well as experienced teachers at schools and universities.
