Description The submitted study provides an insight into the portfolio and its place in the reflectively conceived pre-service teacher training of kindergarten teachers at the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University. The authors, in agreement with other authors, perceive the portfolio as a phenomenon that significantly affects individual teacher professionalisation and thus represents an essential paediatric topic. The introductory part of the study is devoted to the professionalisation concept of teacher training and analysis of the key concept of the portfolio, which is based on an overview study of Czech and foreign sources. The core of the study is action research aimed at monitoring the impact of the course Creating a Professional Portfolio on the development of the professional identity of students. The results of the study show the picture of students professional maturation captured over time through interviews, written narratives and portfolios. In addition to action research, the study provides four individualised portraits of female students who used portfolios in the final state exams.
