Description Technology, nowadays, is developing very fast and people in some cases are not able to stay in pace. GIS is used for several years, but in schools it is not so frequent. The systematic review seeks to evaluate research in the field of geographic information systems in education. Researches were searched in the database of Web of Science and ProQuest. The researches on the topic exist since 1996. For systematic review was chosen overall 75 relevant researches. Surveyed topics include: countries in which research was carried out; the year of publication and implementation of the research; level of education; respondents; implementation and methods; educational course; GIS used and the advantages and disadvantages of introducing GIS into education from the perspective of teachers and students. Most of the researches have taken place in the US. The most researches were done in High schools and they were focused on students. The GIS was used mainly in geography lessons. The biggest disadvantage of GIS from the teachers' perspective is time consuming. The biggest advantage is improving spatial thinking. The biggest disadvantage of GIS from the students' perspective is complexity of understanding. The theoretical part is based on the declaration of IGU, which considers the application of geographic information systems into geographic education as one of the important research topics.
