Description The symposium, which was organized within the ČAPV conference, had the character of four thematically linked papers, which will discuss the ongoing results of the three-year project "Ethnography of diversity in pre-service teacher education" supported by the Czech Science Foundation and conducted at the Department of Education, Faculty of Education, Masaryk University in Brno. After an introductory presentation of the main theoretical and methodological basis of the research, the following research questions were gradually answered: How is student diversity addressed in the planned and realized curriculum of general educational courses in the teacher training program? How do mentors support pre-service teachers in working with student diversity during their practicum at lower-secondary schools? What are the beliefs and practices of pre-service teachers related to student diversity during their practicum? How is student diversity (not) reflected in the ways in which pre-service teachers correct pupils'responses? In accordance with the methodological principles of the design of multi-sited ethnography, the connection between the theory (ie the implemented curriculum in seminars at the university) and practice at lower-secondary schools was continuously taken into account in terms of student diversity. Within the symposium we discussed the implications of the main findings for the pre-service teachers education regarding working with student diversity both in the courses of pedagogical propaedeutics at the university and in terms of their mentoring at the lower-secondary schools.
