Citation
Description The research presented here concerns a series of 1920s articles by the poet and philosopher Dimitrije Mitrinović, first published under a pseudonym in the British weekly The New Age. Some of the articles were reprinted only in 1987, when a selection was prepared by H. C. Rutherford in book form for the centenary of Mitrinović's birth as Certainly, Future: Selected Writings by Dimitrije Mitrinović (Columbia University Press). Building upon some of the theoretical works of Jack Stilinger, especially his book Multiple Authorship and the Myth of Solitary Genius (1991), I examine some of the editorial decisions, or what I would characterise as intrusions into the original texts, in order to raise an issue with the seldom questioned ethics behind such practices.
