Citation
Description In the chapter, the authors analyze the development of vocational education and try to outline the potential direction of the individual areas analyzed in the future, using available data from the Eurostat database. Nationally conceived data are compared with other selected EU countries, namely Austria, Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. The analyzed data focus on the numbers of pupils and teachers, especially with regard to their age structure, and are supplemented by the area of education financing. Thus, through the analysis of available hard data, the chapter tries to approach the current situation in education, with a focus on vocational education. The main question that the authors are trying to get answers to is how the number of pupils and teachers has changed in the last few years, and what development can be expected in the near future on the basis of available data. A partial topic is the comparison with selected countries, where Slovakia represents the closest comparison base in all respects, Austria and Germany the neighboring countries of the Western type, and Poland and Hungary a suitable addition in the V4 area.
