Description The chapter "Philological interpretation of dramatic text" interprets the Czech translation Skála of the original Italian dramatic text La rupe (The Mountain) by Cesare Pavese and is a supplement to author’s dissertation. At first, there is a brief introduction of the text. Then there has been noted that the interpretation of texts is a crucial part of linguistic research. Furthermore, the historical path that has been chosen by the author to be followed in this endeavour has been described. The interpretation of the text Skála begins with very general levels of the text. On this general level, dimensions, domains and actors or agonists, who find themselves within these semantic fields, can be identified. Then the interpretation of a dramatic text according to Jiří Veltruský is provided, showing how signs change their values in different domains. Afterwards, the author describes the isotopic bundle which could be found as a main topic link in the text and explains how does this interpretation fulfil Jan Mukařovský’s goal; the concept of semantic gesture.
