Description Reading is one of the areas one encounters in basic education. It is not just a mechanical skill, but it develops a number of other mental processes that are essential for an individual's development. The significance of reading lies in the general development of a person who, through a literary work and his specific artistic means, becomes acquainted through mediated experience with various life situations, people, environments, problems, etc., ie the basic principles of the functioning of the world. The paper presents partial results of the research of children's reading, which took place in the target group of pupils in the third grade of primary school. Based on the theoretical background and research methodology, it presents the results of a questionnaire survey, which was part of a reflective workshop after reading a literary work.
