| Description | Romanticism began to prevail at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. In English, the word originally meant novel, that is, fictional or unreal. Many contemporaries saw fashion in a fashion pose and did not understand romance at all. In the broadest sense, Romanticism was a sense of life that sprang from the atmosphere of the time. Romantics preferred emotion to reason, spread revolutionary ideals, promoted civil liberties and individualism. |
