Description Even though schools play an important role in the process of children´s gender socialization and in the process of (re)producing gender (in)equality, gender is not included in the curriculum for students of the Czech faculties of education. Majority of them leave the university without an ability to reflect on gender inequality (in the pedagogical process) and their approach to pupils is gender-blind or even stereotypical. The contribution presents preliminary results of an ongoing international project Towards gender-sensitive education (TGSE) and a research proposal of the dissertation Gender awareness of students of education. The project TGSE compares the promotion of gender-sensitive education in the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary and develops courses on gender-sensitive education for current and future teachers. The dissertation analyses the process of gaining a gender-sensitive perspective to teaching from the point of students who participated in a semestral course Gender sensitivity within the pedagogical practice. Theoretically, the dissertation project draws on feminist poststructuralism, methodologically, is based on discourse analysis.
