Description Deliberative democracy in Czech context In 2017, the notion of deliberative democracy surfaced in election campaign of Czech parties. Normative interpretation by Habermas that is based on communication, discussion, and rationalism clashes with the reality of Czech political life - clientism, corruption, private media and public space, the decline of conventional parties and rise of new ones. The dominance of supranational NGOs is accompanied by the decline of civic activity. Nevertheless, any future attempts at democratic processes by Czech civic society can be inspired by Habermas.
