Description The paper deals with the challenges in the process of affirmative statements translations experienced during the translation courses at the Faculty of Education. Affirmative statements create an interesting phenomenon that requires complex translation skills that should result in rich and correct Czech translations. The Czech portfolio of colloquial affirmative statements is limited and some students and even official translators find it difficult to provide the best equivalents. The article discusses the limits and threads to the present translation theories seen only from a limited perspective of affirmative statements.
