Description This paper introduces selected outcomes of the research project “Classroom interaction in English language teaching in higher education” (GA15-08857S), and to relate them to existing theoretical frameworks and empirical findings in the field. Special attention will be paid to the findings that enrich or problematize existing state of knowledge, especially in relation to teacher–student dialogue, IRF structure, interaction during student presentations and follow-up discussions, and peer interaction in pairwork activities. The findings will be illustrated on selected data excerpts.
