Description In Czechia, similar to other European countries, English has established as the first foreign language in the area of language training at schools. German is usually provided as a second foreign language at schools. The paper deals with selected traits of didactics of tertiary languages, especially in the constellation “German after English”. Thereby, not only aspects of cognitive theory of language acquisition, but also areas of emotion are brought into focus. Following theoretical introduction, two case studies from the area of tertiary language research are introduced which address cognition and emotion as topics of research.
