Citation
Description The chapter deals with the presence of literature about the Second World War in readers for the 6th-9th year of primary school published after 1990. In three parts, the author tries to answer these questions: which books, which authors and which excerpts and the themes are put in readers. Further issue is the change of the depiction of the Second World War in these readers. In total forty textbooks published by Alter, Fortuna, Fragment, Fraus, Nová škola, Prodos and SPN were analysed. The main attention is paid to the topics, characters and events in the proses. The author presents four dominant themes – fate of children, fate of young people and adults (including the theme of holocaust), authentic memories and also fate of animals in the war. The chapter presents these main conclusions: the theme of the Second World War is not ignored; in readers we can find traditional texts, older literature, but also less known and new texts and books, from both the Czech and foreign literature. The texts in readers give enough impulses for the reflection of the time of the Second World War and also of the author´s literary work, especially of the narrative strategies.
