Description Work with graphs and tables now belong nearly to the key components of scientific literacy. As this complex of skills is influenced, among others, also by the context in which the graph or the table are given, the complex of skills should be practiced not only in mathematics but also in other subjects. Still, most of the research is focused on the use of graphs and tables in mathematics and much less attention is paid to work with graphs and tables in science. Our aim was to test the level of skills needed to transfer textual representation of data into a table and into a graph, in the context of the chemistry. The test was carried out among Czech pupils at the end of lower secondary school and at the end of upper secondary school chemistry education. Afterwards, we tried to assess appropriate conclusions. There IS also a CD-ROM version, ISBN 978-80-210-7954-0.
