Description Nowadays, in German language classes taught to non-native speakers phonetic transcription is usually omitted. If the transcriptions appear in the textbooks, it is usually restricted to some foreign words only. Future teachers of German language should not only master proper pronunciation, but they should understand its specifics, so they could recognize and properly instruct students in eliminating pronunciation mistakes. Our experience shows, that the contemporary form of the phonetic transcription used in the newest pronunciation vocabulary (Deutsches Aussprachewörterbuch, 2009) helps the students with earning proper pronunciation of spoken German language greatly.
