Description Regionally focused contribution deals with the occurrence and activities of partisan group Žiar, operating during the World War 2 in the central Slovakian mountain range of the same name. The emphasis is primarily on the activities of the group members in the Upper Nitra region, from the winter 1944-1945 until the crossing of the front through this territory. The author tries to shed light on the circumstances and reasons for gathering of partisans in Žiar mountains, as well as clarifies some aspects of their everyday life. The main part of the contribution consists of the analysis of uncertainties related to both resistance activities, as well as the very formal existence of the group Žiar, or her subordination to larger partisan units. The result comprises factual assessment of the activities of the partisan movement in the mountains of Žiar in the context of the history of regional anti-Nazi resistance.
