Description The functioning of corridors is one of the issues of landscape ecology, which is applied in practise in designing of the Territorial System of Ecological Stability (TSES). The function of water flows as naturally existing corridors in the landscape is based not only on the movement of energy and minerals, but also organisms. The water flows are in the TSES designs delimitated as biocorridors of different biogeographical significance. This paper deals with functioning of local biocorridor, which illustrates on the dispersion of ostrich fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris (L.) Tod.) along the Brtnice river in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. The dispersion was assessed on the basis of data taken during field research in the years 2006-2012 and the literature, especially Dieners research from 60th of 20th century (DIENER 1961).
