Description This article clarifies the problems and difficulties concerning the adaptation of a diagnostic instrument – questionnaire Inventory of learning styles (ILS) to a particular subject – English language. The original questionnaire ILS was purposefully created to diagnose the learning styles of students who study many different subjects. The questionnaire was adapted to the Czech educational system for the Czech Republic Army employees, learning only the English language as a foreign language. This article was implemented within the specific research for the support of Ph.D. students.
