PRACTICE TEACHING ASSISTANT

The practice of the pedagogical-psychological module consists of several subjects which bachelor students in the program for Education (it means except students of Primary Pedagogy, Social Pedagogy, Economic Policy and students of single-subject studies in Special Education) must enrol in.

During the bachelor's study, the student enrols in three assistantships in a total of 180 hours. The information bellow is valid for both the full-time mode of study and for part-time/combined mode of study.

The selection of practices is as follows:

In the 3rd and 4th semester, the student enrols only in one of the subjects of assistantship: Assisting OR Tutoring. This means that each semester in the 2nd year, the student is enrolled in one of these compulsory elective courses. Reflection is realized in the seminar Self-experience Preparation for the Profession I (SZ6608; part-time mode of study: SZ6633) in Autumn semestr and the seminar Self-experience Preparation for the Profession II (SZ6611; part-time mode of study: SZ6637) in Spring semestr. Take these subjects together with your practice.
In the 5th semester, all students enrol in Practice Teaching - Teaching Assistant at School.

Feedback from practice

“I really have learned a great many things from my mentor, especially this semester in regard to classroom management as we had to deal with an issue of cyber bullying. As a result, I was able to work with other professionals in my school to resolve this issue and deal with the children involved and be a part of the discussion regarding internet usage in our school.”

Lucy, student of PRACTICE TEACHING ASSISTANT in Spring semester 2023

“I gained both professional and personal value from this training. Firstly, professionally was working with different age groups and being able to form lessons plans and adapt them according to the needs of each group as well as see the progress of the students through the semester. Secondly, personally I was able to connect with the teachers and the students and form some strong bonds and earn each other’s trust.”

Ingmar, student of PRACTICE TEACHING ASSISTANT in Spring semester 2023
