The Fifth Brno Conference on Linguistics Studies in English English as the Lingua Franca of the Modern World: New Challenges for Academia will be held in Brno on 17 - 18 September 2012. As usual, the host institution will be the Department of English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic.
The Fifth Brno Conference focuses on English as the lingua franca of international communication in the globalized modern world. We welcome contributions on a wide range of linguistics topics, such as coherence and cohesion, pragmatic strategies, genre and stylistic variation in spoken and written discourse. The conference will also include a workshop focused on academic English.
