Professional Journal for Primary School Teachers

The journal Komenský was founded in 1873 in Olomouc by the Moravian secondary school teacher, ethnographer and writer Jan Havelka. Since 1992, it has been published by the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University. It is the oldest periodical focusing on didactics in the Czech Republic. The target audience of Komenský are mainly primary school teachers, students of teacher training and related disciplines, but also those in general public interested in the topic of education.

The journal Komenský includes professional articles that mediate results of research in the field of education, experience and proposals from practice, reports (not only) from schools, suggestions for alterations of authentic educational situations, reviews of both Czech and foreign publications, and a number of other observations and insights on education. Thus, it provides a space for presenting solid professional contributions, supports the exchange of experience among active teachers, and offers a platform for general public to discuss contemporary problems of the Czech school system.

The journal Komenský is open to diverse opinions, approaches and methods currently discussed in school, and provides space to all who want to express their opinions or professional views. In accordance with approved content direction, it will continue to focus at contemporary problems in education theory and their reflection in modern teaching practice.
